Christmas Card Designs
As an improvement for this Christmas card design I added a forth paw so that the perspective wasn't off putting. I also added Merry Christmas at the top in simple lettering. I decided to go with a simple font for all of these Christmas card designs so it didn't take away from the focus of the drawing. I'm not sure if I'm particularly very fond of this design so I
think I will develop this idea further.
To develop my idea for a Christmas card design I decided to make a scenery surrounding the dog. Although the original drawing of the dog in the snow is inspired by Buck's first time in the snow in "Call of the Wild" I think showing the Alaskan background gives something more to look at for the audience and my target market. For this drawing I also had a lot of fun designing different ways to draw trees and snow. I decided to change Buck's fur colour to match with the tones used in the background. Instead of giving him antlers, I changed his accessory to a tartan scarf which I think is still very christmassy while not being too tacky.
For this design I wanted to draw attention to the Northern lights in which Buck refers to a lot in the book. I think this Christmas card is very effective. I think the way I drew the northern lights with an air brush, added a gradient to the sky and some stars makes the whole card quite atmospheric and beautiful. I also have improved incredibly with the way and style I draw the mountains in the background. I also really like how I drew the trees, they add texture and dimension to this scenery. The cool tones in this really shows how cold and dark. it would be in Alaska in the winter.
This Christmas card is inspired by the outback where Buck and John Thornton stay in the second act of the book. In the book it is on the side on lake which was covered in ice. This is a very christmassy scene and I had a lot of fun drawing the trees and I personally love how odd they look- it really gives the scene a more playful look.
This is last my last design for the Christmas cards I wanted this one to have a magic added as I think thats a huge part of Christmas. This scene is inspired by Buck and the sled dogs racing to the gold rush in Alaska. I thought to make this card fun instead of reindeer pulling the sleigh it would dogs pulling the sled. I added in the northern lights in the background to make it even more magical. I enjoyed drawing this one and I think it has turned out very effective mainly because of the colours used and the background in this drawing.
