Fireweed over Mt Jumbo - Oil on Canvas
Elise Tomlinson has inspired my art when I'm drawing scenery. Her simplistic style using vibrant colours depicts the beautiful atmosphere of Alaska. As she has lived there since she was young you can tell in her work that are both abstract and still represent the lovely nature that Alaska has. What inspired me do something similar was her artwork "Fireweed over Mt Jumbo". As I found it difficult to draw the flowers and plants realistic this piece really spoke to me and inspired me to try and make my art more abstract with clear outlines. My response to this piece of art is below.
It is clear in this piece that I was inspired by the ambiguous nature of Tomlinson's work and although I used more muted tones and colours I still kept intact the abstract ideology of her work. I don't think my work replicates hers but I wanted to make my response using my own style.
@Artopium_bongsbelleza
I was lucky enough to find this artist on instagram on a sponsored post by "Arteza". I was shown the last image and from then on I was inspired to do artwork inspired by the Northern Lights. Her incredible pieces are all done using watercolour or gouache which gives her pieces an authentic feel to them. I loved the tones she used and these pieces heavily inspired one of my print designs. I loved the perspective of someone looking up towards the sky and I thought this was a vital representation for my project. This is mainly because, throughout the book, Buck has an obsession with being connected with his ancestor through the Call of the Wild. I think the way Ayantika uses colour is really inspiring and was an initial reason I was fixated on drawing the Northern Lights from the start.
Here is my interpretation of @artopium_bongsbelleza. I made sure that my response wasn't very similar to Ayantika's work. This was due to the face that I only wanted to use a similar perspective to show the Northern Lights rather than being inspired by her style.
@Zandraart
I found Zandra on Pinterest and then on twitter, I instantly new she would inspire my work. She is a talented artist who mainly draws digitally and uses vibrants colours. As I was looking into creating more art digitally I knew seeing how she illustrates scenery and skies would help me along the way. Although she uses digital media to create her art, it still maintains a feeling of it being drawn traditionally.
@Sissidesign on Pinterest
The way Sissi paints her work gives each piece an atmospheric and a peaceful feeling to it. I really liked this idea of the mountains fading into the distance and it has inspired me prints moving forward with this module. The blue tones in this helps the audience understand that it's a cold temperature. The perspective is one in which I would like to experiment with moving forward.
